There are specific activities and operations which require a permit be obtained. Applications for permits shall be made to the Fire Prevention Bureau along with the determined service fee. Prior to a permit being issued, services such as plan review or inspections shall be performed. Permits are issued giving permission to maintain, store, use or handle materials, hold special events, conduct processes which produce conditions hazardous to life or property, or to install equipment used in connection with such activities. Permit guidelines are provided on the back of each permit in accordance with current fire and life safety codes. Issuance of a permit shall not be construed as authority to violate, cancel or set aside any of the provisions of the fire and life safety codes. Permits are issued for one special activity such as installation of a fire protection system or on an annual basis such as operating a place of assembly.
