Parking on Private Property
- Vehicles may not be parked or kept on the front lawn or side yards.
- Vehicles may only be parked in the driveway of your home on "improved, surfaces" such as concrete, asphalt, brick, or fitted stone.
- Vehicles without tires, hoods, or with broken windows that are on blocks, jacks or other support are not considered to be in working order. They may be towed away regardless of whether they are on public or private property
- A vehicle that doesn't work may be parked in the driveway of a home on private property IF:
- It looks as if it could be safely driven on public street,
AND
- The driveway is concrete, asphalt, brick, rock, gravel lava or fitted stone.
- Dismantled or wrecked vehicles and vehicles undergoing active repairs may be parked in the driveway of a home for 10 days or less. (Please note: "vehicles" include motor vehicles, boats, RVs, campers, trailers, and any of their parts.)
Overgrown Weeds or Accumulations in Yards
- Overgrown weeds and accumulations of rubbish and personal articles are not permitted on any real property within the City. Weeds can be a potential fire hazard. Please be sure to remove weeds and rubbish.
Public Access
- Items such as basketball hoops and skate ramps are okay while in use. When not in use, they are a public nuisance if they block public property. Please keep basketball hoops off City streets and sidewalks.
- At least 4 feet must be kept clear on one side of your home for emergency fire fighting equipment.
Vacant Buildings
- A building that is vacant more than 60 days is a public nuisance unless:
- It has a building permit, AND is actively being repaired.
- It is actively maintained, AND meets the Uniform Building Code.
- It is actively being offered for lease, sale or rent.
Landscaping
- Trees, shrubs and plants must be trimmed back and clear city streets
- by at least 14 feet; and - sidewalks by least 7 feet allowing a clear path at least 36 inches wide.
- Landscaping materials may be stored in front or side yards for up to 30 days, provided a 4 foot clear path of travel is maintained or one side of the house for emergency firefighting equipment.
Portable Storage Units
- Portable storage units such as "PODs" may not be placed on public streets or sidewalks. They may be placed in the front yard on an improved surface for up to 30 days.
