Reverse Mortgage/Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) Counseling

Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) Counseling – HECM, or reverse mortgage counseling and information on related private and public programs will be provided to senior citizen homeowners.  Reverse mortgage is a method where a homeowner may receive regularly scheduled payments, a lump sum or establish a line of credit based on the home’s equity.  The homeowners will be educated on eligibility, benefits, and costs, including the various methods of receiving the equity in their homes.  Once counseling activities are completed, the required Certificate of Counseling will be provided to clients.  This certification is necessary for a senior to participate in any HECM program.
