JULY - HOMEOWNERSHIP EDUCATION LEARNING PROGRAM

Are you interested in owning your own home? Do you have questions and need answers?

The Vacaville Housing Counseling Center will present a two session seminar on Saturday, July 12th and Jul 19th at the Town Square Library meeting room in downtown Vacaville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. After completion of both sessions, attendees will receive a Certificate of Participation to verify attendance.

FORECLOSURE COUNSELING

Are you having trouble making your mortgage payment? The most important thing for you to do is to contact your lender as soon as possible. Your lender may be willing to work with you to avoid foreclosure. Our HUD-certified Housing Counseling Center can assist with determining your best options.

The Housing Counseling Center offers pre-foreclosure counseling to homeowners who may be in danger of becoming delinquent with their monthly housing payments.

If you are in danger of foreclousre, the time to act is now! Counseling is available to all homeowners. Every attempt will be made to help you to keep your home and negotiate work-out solutions with the lender.

If foreclosure proceeds, the counselor can provide information to you concerning the foreclosure process, alternatives to foreclosure, and locating alternative housing.

EXTRA CREDIT TEACHER HOME PURCHASE PROGRAM

The Extra Credit Teacher Program provides a below market interest rate CaLHFA first loan, together with a forgivable interest CalHFA second loan to assist eligible teachers, administrators, staff members and classified employees to purchase their first home. This program is intended to assist members in 'high priority' school areas across the state to achieve homeownership.

Two loan types:
1) CalHFA 30 year fixed rate, below market rate first mortgage loan and
2) A deferred payment, second mortgage loan 30-year term.

HOUSING & REDEVELOPMENT RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARDS

Housing & Redevelopment staff learned they are recipients of two National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Awards of Merit. This is the sixth time the department has been recognized by NAHRO for achievement and innovation of activities performed by housing and redevelopment agencies. The Awards of Merit will be presented during the NAHRO summer conference.

CHANGES TO CITY CODES

The City of Vacaville has made the following revisions to the public nuisance related codes:

-Establishes an appeal process for owners whose property is subject to abatement under the Public Nuisance Ordinanace for a non-emergency violation.

-Clarifies that when parking a vehicle on any surface other than a driveway that surface must be continuous-no concrete strips or bricks under vehicle tires, etc.

-Reduces time allowed to correct violation of abandoned vehicle for repeat offenders from 5 days to Calfiornia State limit of 3 days.

Enforcement of these revisions were effective October 1, 2004. For more information, you may call (707) 449-5693.
