Foreclosure Intervention Counseling

Foreclosure Intervention Counseling – Loss mitigation is a process to avoid foreclosure. The Housing Counselor will assist a borrower who has been unable to make loan payments and is in danger of defaulting on his or her loan identify possible solutions. Housing Counselors can review the income and expenses and hardship situation to help determine what options may be available through the mortgage lender and assist in applying for those options.

 

The City of Vacaville Housing Counseling Center offers a free Foreclosure Intervention Workshop that provides mortgage solutions for those who may be facing foreclosure.  This workshop has been created to provide information in an informal setting on what to do and expect when you are facing foreclosure.  The workshop is free of charge and is presented by the City of Vacaville Housing Counseling Center, which is a HUD certified counseling agency.

                  

Workshop topics include:

· Potential options available to keep your home

· Potential options available when you cannot keep your home

· How to communicate with your lender

· What to expect from your bank / lender

· The importance of creating a budget

· How to avoid scams that promise to reduce property tax assessments

· Programs such as Hope for Homeowners and Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan

· Loan Modification

· Loss Mitigation

· What the lender requires to process a loss mitigation packet
