Volunteer Programs

The Vacaville Police Department has valued the
assistance Volunteers Enjoy Workingof volunteers for over twenty years.
They have played a valuable part in the intervention of elder abuse, identifying stolen property, tracking crime statistics, and enforcing parking regulations. There are currently sixty Volunteers In Police Service who serve a minimum of sixteen hours each month. These volunteers greatly enhance the Department’s ability to serve the community by providing services that allow police staff to focus their attention on other critical areas of law enforcement. 

In 2007, the department was the recipient of an IACP Award.

Process:

  1. Applications Screened
  2. Interview
  3. Available Placement Identified (possible second interview needed)
  4. Attend next available VIPS Training Academy
  5. Placement
