Vacaville Creek CleanUp
The City of Vacaville Public Works Utilities – Water Quality Section sponsors Creek Cleanup Day in conjunction with the California Coastal Commission, Solano County Environmental Management, Vacaville Sanitary Service, Lucky's, The Reporter, and KUIC.
Volunteers from the community including families, city staff, church, 4-H, scout and students groups, businesses and industry pick up trash at 8 different cleanup locations, collect nearly 7,000 pounds of trash, 800 pounds of recyclables and covering 9 miles of inland creek areas in just under three hours annually!
The Creek Cleanup event not only removes trash potentially headed to our waterways, polluting them, but also helps create an awareness within the community that between 60 - 80% of the trash found on California beaches and shorelines comes from inland creeks or city streets just like ours.
Beelard Park
Lucky's sponsored an entire cleanup site at the Beelard Park biking and walking path. In addition to providing their own volunteers to run the cleanup, Lucky's treats volunteers to water, sodas, snacks and t-shirts for about 90 volunteers.
Site open to everyone.

Eleanor Nelson Park to Patwin Park
Vaca Pena Middle School Associate Principle Kevin Cullen and staff run a student cleanup along the biking-walking path between Eleanor Nelson Park and Patwin Park bringing out about 90 parents and students from around the city.
Site open to students.
Centennial Park

This cleanup site is where Vacaville’s creek cleanup began more than eight years ago and is a great place for anyone to cleanup including families, individuals, and groups. Dedicated city staff and volunteers from the community will accommodate those that would like to just show up or drop in on the day of the event, without having to register in advance. At first glance, this site may not appear to be anything other than baseball, soccer, and tennis courts but not only does it encompass Horse Creek, other smaller bodies of water flow through the park that are tributary to Ulatis Creek.

Ulatis Creek
Every year volunteers collect about three 6 yard bins of trash along the 3-4 sites along Ulatis Creek that would most certainly head into Ulatis Creeks once the rainy season hits Vacaville. Some of the volunteers express sadness and shock at the amount of garbage carelessly strewn along the banks, and in the creek itself.
Most people have no idea this type of trash exists in their hometown.
Site is open to adults only that are capable of working in difficult conditions.
