Marine debris is not just a problem in California; it is a pervasive plague reaching across the globe. Fast food wrappers and containers, fishing line, plastic bags, and cigarette butts are just some of the debris items found scattered along our beaches drastically affecting our oceans and inland waterways. For more information on the statewide event, call (800) COAST-4U or visit the California Coastal Commission Web site at www.coastal.ca.gov.
California Coastal Cleanup Day is a partnership between the California Coastal Commission, non-profit groups, and cities and counties throughout the state. This volunteer event brings out more than 40,000 volunteers from across the state to collect trash from our state’s shorelines, coast, rivers, creeks, lakes and inland areas such as Vacaville.
