AL PATCH PARK UPDATES


 

The northwest corner of Peabody Road and California Drive is now the home of Al Patch Park, a 34.3 acre softball, track, and football field complex.  The park will eventually consist of 5 softball fields, a concession and restroom facility, an all-weather track, football field, tot lot, and picnic area.

 

2001 - 2004

The City Council awarded the    The corner of California and Peabody in 2001 prior to the development of Al Patch Park.

contract for this project on June 8, 2004, to Misan Construction Inc. of Brentwood, California. The first contract working day was June 28, 2004. The contractor commenced site grading and installation of the sewer, water and drainage facilities, and the installation of the fences.

2005-2006

Al Patch in 2005 - dirt and a tractor.

In April of 2005, parking lot lights and sports field lighting were installed.  Through 2005 and 2006 all sewer, water and storm drain piping was installed. Sports field irrigation systems, soil amendment and seed installation were also substantially completed. The contractor completed placing the concrete curb and walkways throughout the park. The concession building and the sports track were also completed.

 

September, 2006

The City’s Parks Maintenance Division has assumed the landscape maintenance of the Park. Scoreboard installation and sports lighting work continues. This project is nearing completion.The entrance to Al Patch Park

 

 

 

 

 Al Patch includes a centralized parking lot and consession area.

The football field will be home to the Vacaville Bengals, Pop Warner Football team.

 

Friday October 13th, 2006

Grand Opening of Al Patch Park on Friday, October 13th!

 

The dedication program began at 6:30 PM

followed by an evening of activities for the entire family!

·          “Track-A-Thon” with the Vacaville Bengals and Police Activities League

·          Home Run Contest

·          Fireworks

·          Hot Dogs and Soft Drinks

 

The first 500 kids received a commemorative give-away!
